Journal on OIP in China - Day 13 & 14

Day 13 March 16
This morning I woke up at about 7.30am to get ready for my lesson at 9am. Then, as I prepared, I was waiting for my group mates to wake up at the same time. Later, we walked and headed to our class together. Today’s lesson was APPG for a whole day. And we were been taught by Mr Ma on the new chapter, chapter 3 of C# fundamentals. After that, we did some tutorials on tutorial 2 and managed to do finish on time during in the afternoon. Today was pretty not much activity went on. However there was an event happened on the evening. It was a session which all of us interacted with the local students. The session was started at 6pm plus and ended at 8.49pm. It also allowed me to know and understand them better. Such as the questions that I wanted to find out from my investigation, this was answered when I was interacting with them as well. The students here were very friendly and easily to get along with. There also had talent sessions for all of us to perform such as singing and dancing. As the time passed, at about 8.50pm, the session was ended. We begun to exchange our contacts and took some pictures together with them. After that, we went out of the campus to buy some bites for our dinner and tomorrow’s breakfast. Next, we went back to our hostel and got ready to turn in for sleep. As for today, it was pretty nothing much went on but I had been improving especially on my communication with others. And I was very glad that I have the opportunity to get along well with the people here.

Day 14 March 17
This morning, I woke up at 6.15am to wash up myself and got ready to meet with our lecturers at outside of the Administration building to go for industry visit at 7.15am sharp. While I was waiting for my group members awoke, I had my breakfast at the same time as well. Then, when all of us got ready and walked down towards the Administration building outside to wait for the bus to be arrived. At about 7.16am, the bus arrived and all of us boarded the bus to head towards our destination. Next, about 8.25am, we were dropped off from the bus at the outside of Wuhan of Science and Technology University and transferred to another bus with students from other division of Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Later, about an hour passed, we reached the place and dropped off together. Before we were dropped off, we were told to take a safety helmet and wore it before we could enter the industry. As we entered into the industry, the first place I seen was the Reheating Mills. The place was so hot and very high in temperature which about 1000 degree Celsius. I was thinking that the industry we visited was supposed to make materials like steel. Then, we climbed up the staircase and walked along the path to see how the operation carried out. As I walked along the path, I stopped in the middle and saw the operation on making the steel. The result that the machine carried out was a roll of steel material. After it completed each row, the degree had been decreased. However, it was still hot when I walked down to ground level along the staircase. After visited the industry, together as our class, we begun to make a move and separated with students from other division. An hour later, at about 10am, we boarded the bus and headed towards to our next destination, “Lu Xiang Guan Chang” to have our dinner and buy some necessary utensil back to our hostel. As the bus was started to move and travelled along, the bus driver took a shortcut to save the time. However, there was a construction site carried out during the middle on our way. Then, the bus driver went down to ask the construction-in charge whether possible to allow the bus to go through since it was stuck in the middle. About 5 minutes later, the bus driver went back to the bus and decided to make an U turn to take different path. As we were travelling, I saw outside the town, roads and building outside were full of rubbish on the ground. The road also turned out to be so dusty and filled with muddy water in most of the area. It caused the residents living there unhealthily and the environment condition. Then, about 12pm, we reached the destination and walked separately to have our dinner. Next, my group and I walked around the place nearby. And we crossed the bridge to another building for buying some burgers as our lunch. After had our lunch, at about 12.30pm, we decided to make our move, went back to our hostel. Then, we crossed the road at outside the building and walked towards to the main entrance of Lu Xiang Guan Chang. From there, we took a bus, Bus number 901. When the moment we reached the bus stop, the bus reached in a nice timing. Then, when we walked towards the bus, we saw the bus was very packed and all of us tried to squeeze into it. However, all of us managed it to squeeze in and got inside. After few bus stops passed by, the bus was so packed and all of us were quite squeezed and almost not having our breath easily. As the bus was travelling, all of us were started to sweat a lot and the temperature was almost like back to normal temperature. It was believed that temperature in the bus had started to become warmer, about 15-18 instead of 8-9 degree Celsius usually. About half an hour passed, we reached the destination and dropped off at the campus outside. Then, we walked to our hostel and took our rest until 2.30pm to attend our lesson at 3pm. Today’s lesson was pretty nothing much went on but as usual, it was APPG. Today’s lesson, it was conducted by Mr Ma. He went through again on Chapter 3 to help us clarify on our doubts from his teaching yesterday. Then, after what he taught, I had almost understood the concepts and ready to prepare for my test on this coming Friday. After that, we also been told to do our assignment on tutorial 3 and must handle in by tomorrow. At about 5pm, the class was ended. My group and I went to canteen 3 to buy some movies back for watching at our hostel during our free time. My group member, Siew Bo bought quite a number of movies. The price which cost him was about $40 RMB. To convert RMB into SGD, it costs about $10 SGD for 5 movies that he bought. It was very cheap as compared in Singapore. Unlike in Singapore, one movie would cost about $10 or more as it wasn’t worth to buy. After that, we went to our hostel and got our clothes changed to have our dinner at a later time. At about 7pm, all of us went down to the opposite of the campus outside, bought some food from the same stall usually. After that, we went back to the hostel and started to do our homework individually. As for today, it was nothing much but I had managed to understand and caught the concepts on APPG module which conducted by Mr Ma. Although it was not really understand well in the beginning, but I managed to practice slowly and learn myself according to the important points given.
